  • The end of the year is coming to a close, and I'm almost halfway done with college. Unbelievable.

For the past three or four years, I've struggled mightily with self-discipline. With little to no control on my actions and my life, I've managed to effectively waste opportunities to capitalize on the best years of my life. Now, as I stand here reflecting on all the words of wisdom I've heard throughout the years but haven't implemented, I'm not as confused as I thought I was about what I want out of life.

Short term goals: doing well on my organic chemistry final exam, finding summer storage, arranging summer affairs
Long term goals: being healthy (healthy sleeping, eating, and exercising), finding love (friendships, family, and relationships), and finding a passion (academic/career field in which I'm genuinely interested)

The problem is how I go about accomplishing what I want.

I must make a conscious effort in my everyday actions to carry out these goals. If not, I will just continue in this rut and continue to disappoint the people I care about and most importantly, myself.

Here's to taking the steering wheel of life.

On an unrelated note, this morning while sitting in orgo lecture, I heard someone cough and have the sniffles, and I thought to myself, "I feel bad for people who get sick often. I almost never get sick, maybe about once a year. Last time I got sick was back in fall semester." Only a few hours after class, I began to feel a little lump in my throat. Then I started sneezing in my next class. Now I'm sitting here with a runny nose. C'est la vie.

  • I love how at the end of the year all this food accumulates in the dorm kitchen from people moving out--eggs, cheese, peanut butter, ice cream, etc. I'm studying for finals right now munching on some carrots, and I just finished a bowl of Easy Mac.

I can't wait for this to end. Bring on summer.
